The stacked commercial and residential layout is such a smart use of vertical space, it instantly gives my tabletop city that lived-in, crowded Roman feel. The ground floor detail for shops is crisp and the MDF cuts are clean, so assembly was a breeze.

The compact footprint fits perfectly on my display shelf, and the detail on the ground-floor shops is surprisingly crisp for MDF. My first build took about an hour, but the layers lock together securely once you figure out the tabs.

I was a bit worried about assembly, but these MDF terrain pieces fit together snugly without any glue — the little tabs lock right into place. The two-story design with shop fronts below and living space above really brings an ancient street scene to life.
