Designed by Andrew Higgins and based on landing craft made for operating in swamps and marshes such as the Japanese Daihatsu-class 14 meter, the Higgins boat was used extensively during World War II by US and Allied forces in all theatres for amphibious landings.

The MDF pieces fit together cleanly with no warping, and the ramp mechanism actually slides open without binding. This 28mm version gives a fantastic centerpiece for my Pacific island landing scenarios.

I built this along with some US infantry for a D-Day diorama and the hull assembly was straightforward, the ramp actually opens which is a nice touch. The wood grain texture on the MDF gives it that authentic LCVP look once painted.
