Kitchen Sponge Scourer Pads for Thatched Roof

I've been using these in place of traditional roofing material for a few cottage models, and the texture is spot on. The fact they're actual kitchen pads means they hold paint and glue perfectly without falling apart. Just the right thickness for a realistic thatch look.

These pads are the perfect scale for model thatching, and they cut cleanly without fraying like actual straw would. I've already finished one cottage roof and it looks surprisingly realistic with a little brown paint.

I was skeptical about using kitchen sponges for a model roof, but the color and texture blend beautifully with the Dark Age kit I'm building. They cut easily and hold their shape well once glued down.
