The 1/4" border is just right—my units slide in snugly without any wobble during movement. Assembled the upper frame to the base in a couple of minutes with wood glue, and it's held up through a dozen games so far. Exactly what I needed for ranked ranks.

Fits my 25mm-based skirmish figures perfectly with no wiggle room. The MDF construction feels sturdy enough for regular game night handling, and the 1/4-inch frame gives just enough clearance to pick units up without jostling them.

Picked this up to move a full unit of 25mm infantry and it's a perfect fit—no wobble, the layers lock together cleanly. The MDF feels dense and solid, not flimsy like some other trays I've tried.
