The 1/4" edges give just enough lip to keep my 40mm models locked in place during a rough game. Fits together cleanly without any wobble, and the MDF feels solid enough to survive regular transport in my case.

The 1/4-inch border is spot on for my 40mm units, and the two-piece assembly locks them down tight with zero wobble during a game. Took me a minute to glue it, but once the frame and base are set, it feels solid enough to survive a tournament bag.

These trays are ridiculously sturdy for the price, the MDF base and frame fit together so snugly I don't even need glue. The 1/4" border leaves just enough lip to keep my 40mm bases secure without looking bulky.
