Learn exactly what the Stargrave Scenario Essentials Bundle contains, how it improves gameplay, and whether this laser-cut terrain set fits your sci-fi wargaming needs.
Quick answer
The Stargrave Scenario Essentials Bundle is a laser-cut MDF terrain set that provides full-color templates for four official Stargrave scenarios: Steam Vents of the Undercity, Data Vault, Skymine, and Fire Moon.
What makes this bundle different from generic sci-fi terrain?
Unlike generic scatter terrain, this bundle is purpose-designed for specific Stargrave scenarios. Each template matches the exact dimensions and layout required by the rulebook, saving you time measuring and cutting your own proxies.
The set uses laser-cut MDF with a smooth satin finish and full-color printing. This means you get durable, ready-to-use pieces that look good on the table without needing to paint or decorate them yourself.
Can you use these templates with other sci-fi games?
Yes. While the templates are designed for Stargrave, they work perfectly with any sci-fi skirmish game. Steam vents, data vaults, and sky mining platforms fit into settings like Infinity, Necromunda, or homebrew rulesets.
The trade-off is that the shapes and markings are specific to Stargrave mechanics. If you play a game that uses different template sizes or shapes, you may need to adapt or supplement this set with additional terrain.
Frequently asked questions
- What exactly is in the bundle?
- The bundle contains full-color laser-cut MDF templates for four Stargrave scenarios: Steam Vents of the Undercity (6 steam vents, 2 steam cloud templates), Data Vault (25 data vault pieces), Skymine, and Fire Moon. All pieces have a smooth satin finish.
- Do I need to paint or assemble the pieces?
- No painting is required. The templates come pre-printed in full color and are cut from MDF. You just remove them from the sprue and place them on the table. Minimal cleanup may be needed on edges. This is a ready-to-use set, ideal if you want to skip painting and start playing immediately.
- Is this bundle compatible with other wargames?
- Yes. While designed for Stargrave, the templates work with any sci-fi skirmish game that uses similar terrain features. They are not tied to proprietary mechanics, so you can use them for Infinity, Necromunda, or homebrew rules. Consider the shapes and sizes of your usual game's templates before buying, as Stargrave-specific pieces may not match every system exactly.
