Ironclad CSS Virginia 'Merrimack'

The laser-etched planking on the deck gives this MDF model a really nice texture that paint picks up well. I’ve been wargaming for years, and the scale feels spot-on for representing a Civil War ironclad on the tabletop. It fits together cleanly, which was a pleasant surprise for a terrain piece.

I was impressed by the level of detail in the casemate, especially the sloped armor. The MDF fits together precisely with no warping, which made assembly smooth. A solid piece for historical wargaming.

The way the deck and gun casemate are cut makes the whole hull feel historically solid, even before assembly. I had it glued and painted in one evening, and the scale looks right next to my other 1/600 ships.
