Took a chance on the 1/4" border and it's honestly perfect for keeping my 25mm bases aligned during movement. The MDF is sturdy enough that I don't worry about warping, and the two-piece frame/base design slides together without any fiddling.

The MDF upper frame fits snugly and the 1/4" border gives my cavalry units a clean, uniform look on the tabletop. It's sturdy enough to hold them securely during movement, which is exactly what I needed for my 25x50mm bases.

The magnets fit perfectly into the recesses, and the 1/4 inch frame holds my cavalry bases securely without any wobble. Assembly was straightforward with just a bit of wood glue. Very pleased with how clean the finished tray looks on the table.
